This performance in from Cash’s July 11, 2003 appearance at the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia–home of the legendary Carter family and the place believed by many to be the real birthplace of country music as we know it.
As Johnny says in the video, he hadn’t performed “Understand Your Man” on stage in over 25 years.
Just a few months later on September 12, 2003, Cash would pass away at the age of 71.
