Cash made this visit to Sesame Street in 1973 during the fifth season of the popular children’s television program. The song “Nasty Dan” would later be featured on “The Johnny Cash Children’s Album”.
The lyrics of this are quite appropriate for Sesame Street’s grouchiest resident, and Oscar interject his approval at all he hears about “Dan”. After Cash (who Oscar misidentifies as “Johnny Trash) wishes him a rotten day, the Grouch declares, “Wow, there goes my kind of guy!”
