In this 1975 interview on the Dinah Shore Show, Johnny Cash explains what let him to write the song “Strawberry Cake.” He then sings the song with accompaniment from Shore.

As Cash says that he saw a man sleeping on the sidewalk near Central Park in New York City. Going back to his hotel, “…there was the pretties strawberry cake I ever saw. I was almost tempted to go out and wake that guy up and say ‘Come on. You go and grab that cake and run, and I’ll block for you.”

Johnny Cash Impersonates Elvis

Both Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash started their careers with Sun Records, the legendary music publishing company out of Memphis, Tennessee. Both Cash and Presley were known to hold the other in high esteem.

Painting the Johnny Cash Mural in Nashville

See the revival of the Johnny Cash wall mural in Nashville, Tennessee:


The artists Bryan Deese, Audie Adams and Ryan Shrader of the Thoughts Manifested (TM) crew first painted a wall mural tribute shortly after Johnny Cash’s death in 2003. Over the years weather and vandalism had almost completely obliterated the work of art. So in 2012 the same artists went back to paint entirely new mural on the same wall in honor of Cash.
